The night of his return, Samuel meets a curious woman named Emily, who possesses knowledge of the future thanks to a hidden pedestal beneath the historical landmark Fraunces Tavern in New York City. She uses this knowledge to prevent tragedies and save lives, which is achieved through an alert system designed by her tech genius husband, Frank.
Emily and Frank recruit Samuel to help them save people, while Samuel struggles to save himself from the cartel. Along the way, Samuel falls for a young woman named Kate, makes amends with the mother he hasn’t seen or spoken to in seven years, and discovers he has a six-year-old daughter named Ellie.
Unfortunately, a man with a penchant for killing—and who has a unique history with both Emily and Samuel—insists they are saving the wrong people and putting the welfare of many others at risk. What begins as a struggle between a handful of individuals, eventually escalates into something much greater, into something very unexpected.
The Darkdrift, a science fiction novel incorporating the structure and pacing of a thriller, was born out of the idea that who we were in the past is not as important as who we are now and who we become in the future. Not only as individuals, but as a community. With every act of intervention, of deliberate change, these characters discover more and more who they truly are, who they were meant to be.
